How I created my title

To produce my front cover I wanted to create a unique title design so that it stood out well and appealed to my target audience. After doing some research based on my chosen genre rap and r&b based on the music and music videos, smoke was very commonly used and shown which is why I chose to add it onto my title. I wanted the smoke to look clean and professional so I used photoshop to do this. So firstly, I started off with my main cover design however I changed the colour of ‘$’ to a light grey because I thought it looked better with the red and black as I thought the white made the title look comical which wasn't something I wanted to achieve.
I also decided that I wasn’t going to add the smoke to the ‘$’ and leave it plain this is because I didn’t want it to look to busy on the page and the '$' is the main part of my title so leaving it plain gives a greater impact as it stands out to the audience. To add the smoke effect I downloaded a set of smoke brushes from a website which I was then able to access on photoshop, these included different styles so after testing out different brushes I chose the one that looked the best, I also adjusted the size of the brush.
So what I did is I applied the smoke onto each letter covering nearly the whole letter then using the eraser tool I rubbed out the areas around the letter so that the smoke was only on the letter which also made it look professional. After doing this to each letter and once I was satisfied I changed the opacity to 70% so that it wasn’t overpowering the letters behind. The process to do this wasn't hard or time consuming however it turned out really well.
